Winnipeg Folk Festival
What was originally conceived in 1974 as a one-time event to celebrate Winnipeg's Centenary and to present Folk music to local audiences, has grown to be an internationally acclaimed music event. The Festival is now the largest event of its kind in North America and one of the main summer, cultural attractions of the province of Manitoba.
Winnipeg Fringe Festival
Presenting live theatre in an informal, accessible and inexpensive environment, the Fringe strives to break down traditional boundaries between audience and artist, encouraging open dialogue between theatre-goers and theatre-creators. Audiences are invited to experience the work of seasoned veterans alongside that of emerging artists. Local, national and international performing companies benefit from working together and learning from each other in a vibrant and exciting festival atmosphere. In order to stimulate artistic innovation, applications for participation in Fringe Festivals are accepted on a non-juried lottery.

Winnipeg Writers Festival
In the third week of September each year, Winnipeg welcomes Canadian and international writers for a week of readings, lectures, interviews, book launches, and other events. The Forks is the hub of activity, but our programs stretch out across the city and into rural areas as well. Programming for kids is an essential part of THIN AIR - we host events for families as well as programs for students. Reading is crucial to most basic transactions in life. But reading, especially literary reading, also develops tolerance, compassion, curiosity, and creativity.
WSO New Music Festival
The International New Music Festival is one of the world’s most revered events of its kind. It’s a seven-day event that heats up a cold winter and explores music from the thoughtful and introspective to the wild and “in your face.” The WSO welcomes guest composers and artists from around the world to present a broad range of musical styles from around the world. Along with the thrilling and thought-provoking experiences audiences have come to know and love, the 2007 festival will add many dazzling new experiences to the mix.
Winnipeg International Film Festival
The Winnipeg International Film Festival was founded on the principal of providing an exceptional vehicle for the promotion of noteworthy films. The festival staff considers the promotion of its selected films, producers, directors, and actors to be of the utmost importance. The WIFF will make certain that every one of the selected films receives the highest degree of public and media recognition, both in the pre and post festival periods.
