There are many benefits to upgrading to a Premium Link.  First, it moves your free link from its' present position to the top of your category (or near the top, depending on the order in which they were added).  This boost in position instantly gives you more exposure and thus potentially a higher click through rate.  People who use search engines and directories such as BuyItCanada.com are more likely to click on a link if it is in the top 5 as opposed to a link on the second or third page of a category.  Position is everything.  Also, a link on the top of the first page of a category will be given more "value" (in terms of ranking) with the search engines than a link on the second page. This in turn potentially boosts the "value" of your link. In addition to this enhanced position in the directory, your link description will be shaded green for higher impact and visibility.

There are two types of Premium Links:

1. Affiliate Premium Link - where the merchant/retailer agrees to pay a percentage of any sales generated by their link in the BuyItCanada.com directory (revenue sharing + incentives)
2. Direct Payment Premium Link - where the merchant/retailer pays a flat annual rate and does not share in any revenue generated by their link in the directory.

We allow up to five (5) Premium Links per page and is "first come, first served", which means the first (longest-running) Premium Link remains at the top of the category until it is not renewed.  If you are the second Premium Link you will then be second in the list.  Third is third and so on.
Premium links only appear on the first page of a category. If a free link indicates New Popular and is upgraded, the upgraded link will indicate New Popular. Premium Links  also indicate Featured Site.
You must have a free link approved and placed in the directory before you can upgrade to a Premium Link. Link submission rules apply.  Visit the FAQS page for more info.  

Remember you can submit one free link per local category for each location you operate your business.  For example, you operate 22 computer stores in 22 cities throughout Canada.  This would entitle you to submit one free link for each store (22 cities), provided the category and directory existed for each city market.  Once your links have been approved, you could then upgrade all 22 links at a volume discounted price.

You will receive a confirmation email indicating your payment has been processed.  Additionally, you will receive a confirmation email after your link has been upgraded in the BuyItCanada.com database. Premium Link updates to the database may take 48 hours (2 business days) to complete.

Ensure you have provided all the requested information.  Missing information will delay the upgrade of your link.
