Westman Communications Group began in 1977 as Westman Media Cooperative Ltd. which first introduced cable television into Western Manitoba. A group of residents in and around Brandon, Minnedosa, Neepawa, Carberry and Rivers formed the Cooperative to bring cable service "out west" from Winnipeg. At that time, the Inter-City Broadband Network, a hard-wire connection, delivered its signal from Winnipeg to Brandon and the surrounding area.
