Events Edmonton

Events Edmonton is a volunteer driven Association that produces three annual festivals. They include A Taste of Edmonton Festival, Edmonton Canada Day Fireworks Festival and New Year’s Eve Downtown. As a not-for-profit company it has member/shareholders, a permanent staff of four and over 400 volunteers. Events Edmonton produces family oriented festivals that promote the spirit and civic pride of Edmonton and surrounding regions. The events are free and provide entertainment and family activities.

Silver Skate Festival

The Silver Skate Festival is a rooted in Dutch Tradition, and is a celebration of winter activities originating from the Netherlands. Ice dance performances, snow sculpture, fun races, ski trails, recreational skating, children's activities, sledge hockey, Dutch treats, games and fun are the ingredients for a wonderful winter afternoon. The festival is set against the beautiful landscape of Hawrelak Park. Catch the breath of winter! The Silver Skate Festival supports the work of the Children's Ability Fund and the Festival is in part a fundraiser for this charity.

Ice on Whyte - Old Strathcona's Annual Ice Sculpture Festival

The festival takes place in two parks in Old Strathcona McIntyre Park - 83 Avenue between 103 and 104 Streets and The TELUS Family Ice Adventures - 85 Avenue between 103 and 104 Streets.

The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival

The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association. The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association was formed in 1996. Edmonton held its first Dragon Boat event, a demonstration in Hawrelak Park in 1996, and the participation and interest in this festival has grown steadily each year. In 2004, the races in Edmonton attracted 66 teams, up from 50 in 2002. In 2006 we are expecting a full roster of 72 teams, as well as more than 8,000 spectators.

Edmonton Folk Music Festival

Edmonton International Film Festival

For two decades, Edmontonians, movie-goers and filmmakers from across the globe, have celebrated the world of independent cinema with a festival devoted to the art of making movies. The Edmonton International Film Festival is scheduled to present over 25 feature films – for all ages, for all tastes. We look for entertaining, beautifully crafted feature films, documentaries and shorts. Aside from soliciting films, we also want filmmakers to send us their films.

The Works Art & Design Festival

The Works International Visual Arts Society produces The Works Art & Design Festival which attracts artists and patrons from around the world, boosting the energy and imagination of Downtown Edmonton at the start of every summer. The Works is a free event that draws an audience representing all ages and interests, offering over 200 exciting exhibits and special events to the public.
